Little Kid Reaction: We read this several times. Our child quickly picked up on the facts and by the third reading could tell us specific details about Emperor penguins. S/He would repeatedly return to the part where mothers threw up their food to feed their young.
Big Kid Reaction: Very clever. Barrington (a stuffed animal) is adorable. The photographs are outstanding and clever, too. Barrington's narration gives us lots of details about life in an Emperor penguin colony, and based on our child's reaction, in a format that is easy for them to process.
Pros: This clever picture book has two things kids love: a teddy bear and penguins. The story is packed with factual information and the photographs are beautiful, clever, and educational.
Cons: None!

About Barrington Bear Visits the Emperor: The photographs of Antarctica and the penguins are just dazzling. It is always great when a book that is fun to read also conveys such interesting information. Kudos for a wonderful book.
About Barrington Bear On Safari: Hurrah for Book Two of the "The Travels with Barrington Bear" series! The pictures of animals in the book are simply gorgeous and the information provided about them is extremely interesting. It is amazing how much you can learn from a book that is fun to read.
I absolutely loved these books! They are truly deserving of the name "picture books".
